Abstract

239,931. Alley, S. E. June IS, 1924. Hubs; disc wheels.-Axles for railway &c., vehicles are formed, inside the end journals 10, 11, with coned seatings 13. 14 arranged as shown for the correspondingly formed wheel hubs 19, the intermediate portion 12 of the axle being of reduced section. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the wheel is secured by bolts 20 and clamping-plates 21 fitted between the shoulder on the axle and flanges 22 on the wheel. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the plates 22 are replaced by a two-part collar 24 which may be formed with sprocket teeth 25. The wheel shown in Fig. 1 comprises a pair of discs A braced by radial webs B having lightening holes A<1>, B<1>, respectively.
