Abstract

874,707. Motor vehicle driving gear. FIAT S.p.A. June 2, 1960 [June 3, 1959], No. 19598/60. Class 79(2). [Also in Group XXXII] The rear wheels 14, 15 and front wheels 18 of a vehicle are driven from an internal combustion. engine 2 through a gearbox 3 and reducing gear 4 connected to the gearbox 3 by a cardan shaft. The front wheels are driven through, a transfer box 5, which may be. incorporated in the reducing gear 4, differential 16 and bevels 17 and drive for the rear wheels is taken from the reducing gear 4 to differentials 6 and 8, a power take-off pulley 19 also being provided. Each rear wheel is driven from a cardan shaft 10 and axially slidable joint 24 (Fig. 4) from which a shaft 25 is driven and upon. which is mounted a sunwheel 26. Planet wheels 27 mounted upon pins 27a carried by the hub 28 mesh with the sun-wheel 26 and an inner gear 30 carried by a sleeve 31 keyed to the wheel spindle 32. The rear wheels 14, 15 are carried by beams- 13 pivotally supported by a cross member 12 rigidly connected to leaf springs 11.
