Transmission gear of invariable ratio; gearing with provision for permitting flexure or distortion.-In a turbine-driven locomotive in which the turbine 1 drives a wheel-axle 3 through two or more trains of reducing gearing and flexible couplings 13 as in the parent Specification, the ratio of one of the gear trains is made nearly equal to 1 and two gear-wheels 8, 10 on one shaft are made nearly equal in size, thus allowing this shaft 9 to be placed well above the axle 3.
