Driving bogie-wheels and radiating axles; gearing with provision for permitting flexure or distortion; reversing-gearing.-In a rail motor- .car, the engine and the change-speed gear b are mounted on the main frame of the car, and the change-speed gear drives through a universally-jointed shaft c and a shaft d carried by the bogie, bevel reversing-gear mounted on a cross-shaft e which drives one axle through two sets of chain or other gearing f. The bogie axles are coupled by rods g. The change-speed gear is driven by a continuation h of the engineshaft. The controlling-means for the reversing- gear are so arranged as not to be affected by the movements of the bogie.
