Gearing with provision for permitting flexure or distortion.-In an electric or other locomotive in which the driving wheel axle is driven through a toothed wheel on a shaft carried by the frame, the axle is spring mounted in arcuate guides struck from the toothed wheel shaft. Radius links may also be provided. The motor 17 is mounted on frame members 18 and its shaft 16 drives a countershaft 20 also mounted on the main frame. The driving-axle 21 rides in arcuate guides 22 in the frame 19 and links connecting the countershaft 20 and axle 21 may be provided. The teeth of the gear wheels 26 may be curved transversely to allow for vertical play of the axle.
