Balance or differential gearing; driving bogie-wheels; transmission gear between separate axles; transmission, gear of invariable ratio. - Comprises an arrangement of differential and reducing gear between the axles of a rail or road vehicle. Fig. 1 shows a section at right-angles to one of the vehicle axles 3. The shaft 1, driven by the motor through universal joints, drives spur pinions 7, 8, through a differential g e a r 2. These pinions gear with toothed wheels 9, 10 on short shafts at the same level as the axle 3. The wheel 10 drives this axle through bevelgearing 11, 12. and the wheel 9 drives the other axle through a universally-jointed shaft and similar bevel-gearing. The driving-shaft 1 and the differential gear may be arranged below the vehicle axles, instead of above.
