Abstract

201,921. Stoffels, K. W. G. J. Aug 1, 1022, [Convention date]. Differential gearing; transmission gear of invariable ratio.-The track-wheels 3, 4 are mounted loosely on the axle 1 and are driven through two sets of differential gearing, each set being arranged near the corresponding wheel, the object being to avoid uneven torque efforts on the wheels and so to do away with undulations of the rail surface stated to be due to the oscillations caused by the uneven torque. The motor shaft 5 has pinions 6, 7 driving gear-wheels 8, 13. The gear-wheel 8 drives the track-wheel 3 through a differential gear of which one sun wheel 11 is fixed to the track-wheel while the other is fixed to the axle 1. The other gearwheel 13 carries a double differential gear, having planet pinions 14, 15 each gearing with an idle wheel 17, while the pinion 15 gears with a wheel 18 fixed to the track-wheel 4 and the pinion 14 gears with a wheel 16 fixed to the axle 1. In a modification the pinions 14, 15 are on a common spindle.
