Abstract

367,363. Gas-producers ; coking processes; oil gas. HERZBERG, F., 8, Lindenplatz, Leisnig, Saxony, Germany. Nov. 17, 1930, No. 34589. Classes 55 (i) and 55 (ii).] In the gasefication of finely divided solid or liquid fuels in the form of dust, spray or mist, .the fuel is gasefied in a continuous operation, with or without the addition of steam, in large chambers with external heating flues. Ungasefied dust may be burnt in the flues with the addition of steam, air, or oxygen ; heat regenerators may be employed in conjunction with the flues. In one example a coking chamber 1, Fig. 1, is fed with finely divided fuel through an inlet 4, steam entering through inlets 5. The chamber is heated by combustion of gases in flues 3 to a temperature of 1000-1400‹ C. Water or a mixed gas passes to off-take 6. In a modification, the flues are constructed as regenerators. The coking chamber 7, Fig. 11, has on either side regenerators 32, 33. Steam is superheated in regenerator 32 before passing into the chamber at 36. A part of the gas is passed through opening 37 and is burnt with air entering at 49 in regenerator 33, the latter heating the steam required in the succeeding period. Reference has been. directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 15048/95, [Class 55, Gas manufacture], 9988/13, 266,354, and 337,807, [all in Class 55 (i), Coking &c.].
