[Class 55 (ii)] In the production of oil-gas from oil at a pressure of 250 lbs. per square inch or more heated in a pipe still 1 to a temperature of 600‹ F. or over, the oil, kept in liquid form under these conditions, is fed to an externally heated vaporizer 5 wherein the pressure of the oil is released and the liquid immediately vaporized. The vaporizer is heated by gases from a furnace 2 which after circulating around the vaporizer pass through pipe 7 to the still where they are utilized in heating the oil. The oil gas at a temperature of 800‹ F. may be raised in temperature to 1300‹ F. in a heater, also heated by the gases from furnace 2, before admixture with manufacture gas of low calorific value. In an example of a complete carburetted gas plant, the oil gas of the above system flows directly into a carburetter 15, Fig. 3, attached to a generator 14 wherein a carbon monoxide-hydrogen gas mixture is produced by the internal combustion of regulated quantities of oil, oxygen and steam. The temperature of the latter gas is reduced by the injection of further quantities of oil and steam at 16 and also by the admission of the oil gas to the carburetter. The resulting enriched gas mixture at a temperature of about 1300‹ F. is used for heating the vaporizer and the pipe still before being discharged at 19 at a temperature of about 800‹ F.
