Abstract
319,754. Seiliger, M. Sept. 28, 1928, [Convention date]. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In an oil engine wherein the fuel is burnt in air raised by compression to ignition temperature, the volume of the combustion space is maintained substantially constant during burning, and fresh air is caused to flow into contact with the fuel as it is sprayed. Two pistons a, b have a common combustion chamber c into which the fuel is sprayed; a partition f in part separates the two cylinders. The piston b lags behind the piston a an amount determined by the time of burning; at the end of the compression stroke of the piston a fuel injection commences, the flow of air from the upper cylinder into the combustion chamber being effected by the piston b. Any number of pistons may work with one common combustion chamber.
