Pistons.-In an internal-combustion engine, an annular ring c' extends from the piston c and enters a reduced portion a' of the cylinder bore at the end of the stroke, sufficient clearance being left to cause mixture, compressed in the annular space thus formed, to escape in a thin blast along the wall of the combustion chamber and eject oil from the sides of the piston.
