Abstract
570,477. Turning-gear. MILLAR, R. D. Dec. 22, 1943, No. 21436. [Class 7 (v)] Oil from the normal lubricating system is forced past a valve D into a chamber A, raising a spring- pressed piston F and the oil so stored is forced by the spring through a passage M, terminating in the cylinder wall C within the area swept by the top piston ring, when a solenoid L in parallel with the starter motor circuit is excited to open a valve in a passage c<1> leading from the chamber A to the passage M. The normal position of the piston E is adjustable to vary the charge of oil. In the case of a sleeve valve engine, the oil is delivered to the annular space between the junk head and the cylinder.
