Abstract
301,801. Nourry, P., and Rodanski, D. Gluksman-. Dec. 5, 1927, [Convention date]. Valves.-A rotary valve controlling inlet and exhaust comprises a pair of valve discs e keyed to the ends of an overhead shaft d and arranged so that the fluid pressures are balanced. Passages c<0> in the valve discs connect inlet ports c‹ to a pair of opposed cylinder ports a‹, and passages e‹‹ connect the cylinder ports to exhaust ports c<oo>. The valve discs work against seating-plates e<1> held from rotation by engaging over bosses; C<2>, and from axial movement bv screwed rings e<3>. The shaft d is arranged across the cylinder head between a pair of cylinders, so that the valve serves both cylinders. The inlet ports c‹ may be connected by a conduit through the shaft d. In a modification, Fig. 3, a valve e provided over the centre of each cylinder is formed with a hollow shaft constituting the inlet conduit, which is connected by a passage e‹ in the valve with a pair of opposed cylinder ports f‹, the valve being also provided with a recess which connects the cylinder ports to exhaust conduits f‹‹. Filling-pieces f are arranged between the valves e and are formed with the upper parts of the cylinder passages f ‹. Valve gear.-A pair of valves of the form shown in Fig. 2 are driven by teeth e<4> on the periphery engaging a worm on a vertical shaft between the two valves. The hollow shafts of the valves shown in Fig. 3 are coupled together by members es..
