Abstract

185,430. Crowe, H. Feb. 25, 1921. Multiple way valves; closure members, ro;tary disc.-An hydraulic rotary disc valve is provided with means for partly relieving the pressure on the seating. The valve body a is provided with ports b, b<1> leading to each end of the working cylinder, and with a common exhaust port c. Pressure liquid is supplied through the port a<2>. The valve disc h is provided with a pair of passages for admitting the pressure liquid to the ports b, b<1>, and is carried by a spindle e passing through the cover. The spindle is surrounded by a piston g provided with packing-leathers j, j<1>, and the upward pressure; on this piston is transmitted to the spindle through a thrust bearing m, so that the downward pressure on the valve is partly balanced. In a modification, Fig. 3, the piston g is replaced by a flexible diaphragm, which is secured by a screwed ring d<3>.
