Abstract
192,408. Renaudin, A. Jan. 26, 1922, [Convention date]. Rotary conical and disc valves.-A valve of the rotary disc type, particularly applicable as a distributing-valve for engines, is made of conical form and is provided with a balancing-piston to relieve pressure on the working face. Inlet and exhaust ports 2, 3 are formed in the head of the cylinder 4, and a short concentric cylinder 5 may communicate with the atmosphere or, as shown in Fig. 1, with a water jacket 11. The conical distributing- valve 10 is integrally connected to a piston 7, and is provided with a port 12 admitting and discharging fluid to and from the space 13 which is permanentlv connected to the cylinder 14. The dimensions of the valve 10 and piston 7 are such that there is a small resultant pressure pressing the valve to its seat. Passages 17 for lubricant may be provided in the valve. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification, Fig. 2 (Cancelled) in which the valve 10 may be connected by a tube 18 to a balancing piston 19 in a cylinder 20 outside the engine. In another modification, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), two concentric valve cones 10, 10<a> may be used, rotating at different speeds or in opposite directions, to obtain rapid opening and closing of the ports. Separate balancing pistons 19, 19<a> are. provided for the valves. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
