Abstract

213,513. Matthiessen, C. H. Oct. 31, 1923. Valves.-A sleeve 11 sliding in the cylinder head of a four - stroke engine controls inlet passages 8, 9 by means of ports 12, 13 and exhaust passages 10 by its lower edge, the inlet ports 12, 13 being opened only on the suction strokes by a piston valve 18 sliding within the sleeve. The ports 12, 13 are wider than the ports of the inlet passages 8, 9, or vice versa. Packing-rings are fitted as shown.
