Abstract

350,327. Diesel engines; valves. LAUBENDER, L., 61, Turmstrasse, Winterthur, Switzerland. Aug. 25, 1930, No. 25310. Convention date, Sept. 9, 1929. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi).] In a four-stroke Diesel-engine cylinder having a common inlet and exhaust port controlled by a valve 3, the gradual closing of the valve is compensated for by additional piston-controlled ports 6 which may be tangential to the cylinder bore ; on the suction stroke the valve 3 closes when the piston begins to uncover the ports 6 ; on the expansion stroke the valve 3 opens before the ports 6 are uncovered. Further ports 15 controlled by a valve 16 may be provided and the air may be supplied under pressure. Some of the ports 6, 15 may be radial and they may be transverse or directed towards the cylinder head. Additional exhaust ports similar to the ports 15 may also be provided.
