Abstract
385,988. Hydraulic shock-absorbers. SPYKER, J., 12, Lindenlaan, Bussum, Holland. June 25, 1931, No. 18453. Convention date, June 25,1930. [Class 108 (iii).] In an hydraulic shock-absorber of the oscillating vane type, liquid may be forced from a storage cylinder to the working chambers by a piston operated from the outside. The working chambers are of annular shape formed between the outer and inner cylinders 5, 6, fixed abutments 7, 8 being secured by screws. The oscillating vanes 2, 3 project into the working chambers from a cylindrical disc carried by the operating shaft 1 which works in a bearing in the cover 9. The light cover 26 screwed on the outside of the outer cylinder 5 provides a liquid reservoir. The inner cylinder 6 forms a pressure chamber having a piston 11 which may be moved in or out by a screwed rod 12. When the piston is forced inwards, liquid passes through the ports 15 to passages 16 in the partitions 7, 8 and thence through one-way valves 18 to either side of the partitions. Flow of liquid between the working chambers is regulated by conical holes 19, 20 with one-way valves, and also by connections to passages 21 in the base 4 of the main body, these passages being controlled by an adjustable valve 22.
