Abstract

368,049. Lubricating shock-absorbers. ROYCE, SIR F. H., Nightingale Road, Derby. Feb. 24, 1931, No. 5776. [Class 12 (ii).] In an hydraulic shock absorber in which the flow of oil between two compression chambers is controlled by a spring-loaded valve or other restriction, a leakage path is provided from one or both of the compression chambers to the bearings of the rocking shaft. Pistons b<2>, b3 are raised and lowered alternatively in their respective cylinders by a two-armed rocking lever d<4> carried by a shaft e. The conduit f<1> connecting the cylinder b to the valve g is provided with a leak passage h by which oil is conveyed to one of the bearings c of the rocking shaft. The oil is further led to the central opening in the shaft and thence through the holes h<2> to the other bearing.
