Abstract

1378363 Damping actuators POCLAIN 24 April 1973 [3 May 1972] 19467/73 Heading F1D When a piston 2, Fig.1, approaches the end of its stroke fluid under pressure in an auxiliary chamber 9 moves a piston 14 to the left against a spring 22 so that a valve 15 is allowed to open and connect an inlet chamber 6 with an outlet port 10 through passages 19a and 21. If an unacceptably high pressure develops in the chamber 9, a valve 12a opens against a spring to vent the chamber 9 through ducts 16 and 11a. Fig.3 shows an arrangement in which damping is provided at the opposite end of the stroke by a chamber 26 of variable volume. When an end 32 of this chamber abuts the end 30 of the cylinder, the increase in pressure in chamber 26 opens the valve 15 to relieve the pressure.
