Abstract

1287843 Shock absorbers with resilient diaphragm piston valves L BERSANI T CINOTTI W SARTI A MUNERATI and R GUIDASTRI [trading as LAVORAZIONI INDUSTRIALI MECCANICHE DEL SAVENA]. 4 June 1970 [9 June 1969] 27070/70 Heading F2S A shock absorber comprises a cylinder, a piston 8 movable in the cylinder and having a bore 6 communicating with one working face, an imperforate resilient diaphragm 10 connected to that working face and completely overlying the bore 6 and a passageway 3, 4, 5 from the space C in the cylinder to the bore 6, movement of the piston in the direction indicated by the arrow 2 causing fluid in the space C to flow through the passageway 3, 4, 5 and into the bore 6 (on its way to the space D via diaphragm 9) thereby reducing the difference in fluid pressure on opposite surfaces of the resilient diaphragm 10. These are three bores 6 opening into an annular recess 7 in the piston, each bore having an associated passageway. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the piston is made from two identical parts.
