Abstract
197,994. Kitchen, J. G. A., and Alexander, J. R. Jan. 23, 1922. Rotary valves ; slide valves, cylindrical and piston.-A fluid-pressure servo-motor apparatus comprises a cylinder 2, Fig. 2, supplied with pressure fluid at 16, 17 and provided with ports 7, adapted to co-operate with a helical discharge groove 4 in a rotatable valve 3. The groove 4 communicates through apertures 8 with the interior of the valve from which leads a discharge. pipe 18, and the valve is balanced by grooves 20. Recesses 6 are formed in the piston. In one modification, two or more working cylinders may be disposed around a central valve 3, and in another illustrated in Fig. 5, the ports 7 are helically arranged in a rotatable liner 3 and co-operate with a groove 4. The axial length of the piston is made equal to, smaller than, or greater than the axial length of the discharge port formed by the intersection of the ports 7 and groove 4 according to the nature of the pressure supply.
