Abstract

311,166. Hosking, T. Oct. 3, 1928. Working valves.-A piston valve for controlling the supply of hydraulic power in connection with cranes, presses and machines of similar type and of the kind employing a hollow ported spindle of equal diameter throughout its length and adapted to work through a series of packing rings, has the rings so arranged as to permit the return of pressure fluid from the power cylinders to the pressure inlet in the event of the pressure in these cylinders exceeding the inlet pressure. The casing has annular chambers formed by packing rings F, G, H, J connected to the inlet port R, the exhaust ports P, T, and the ports Q, S leading to the power cylinders. The valve member A is divided into three separate chambers B, C, D each provided with a series of perforations adapted to be moved to the other side of their coacting packing rings when the valve member is moved fiom its central position A<1> to either of its extreme positions Y, Z.
