Abstract

623,960. Valves controlled by auxiliary valves. BEARDMORE & CO., Ltd., W., and CAMERON, R. June 5, 1947, No. 14941. [Class 135] Valve control mechanism for the burners of oil-fired furnaces comprises two operating fluid distributing chambers 1, 2, a supply pipe 3 and an exhaust pipe 4 all connected to a change-over valve 5 adapted to connect one chamber to the supply and the other to the exhaust, an oil supply pipe 6 having slide valves 7, 8 in its branches, each valverod 12 carrying an operating piston 13 and a dashpot piston 14, the latter having at least one non- return valve 14A opening in a direction away from the oil valve, and working in a cylinder 16 having a byepass pipe 17 connecting its ends, and a steam supply pipe 9 with slide valves in its branches, each valverod carrying an operating piston. The chambers 1. 2 are so connected to the operating cylinders that pressure fluid admitted to one chamber will be conducted to close the oil and steam valves for one set of burners, and to open the oil and steam valves for another set. Similar dashpot means may be provided for the steam valves. A valve 17A may be included in each pipe 17. The operating fluid may be steam, air, water or oil under pressure. Auxiliary hand control means are provided for each valve.
