Liquid-pressure engines.-A stepped valve i, i<1> movable in a casing f having chambers h, h' has its smaller end constantly acted on by pressure admitted at h<2>, and a. valve k controls the communication of the chamber h with pressure or exhaust. The chamber h is open to one end of the working cylinder, and the valve portion i, i<1> governs the connection of the other end to the inlet h<2> and exhaust m. The valve casing has flanges for detachable connection to the cylinder symmetrically in relation to the cylinder ports, so that it may be reversed.
