Abstract
196,184. Dawson, A. April 20, 1922. Combined fluid-actuated and mechanical gears, with auxiliary distributing-valves. The main slide valve 1 is flat and separate from the auxiliary piston 3, and has a flat auxiliary valve 2 working thereon which acts as an expansion valve. The main valve has through main steam ports 13, 14 controlled by the valve 2, main exhaust port 18, and auxiliary steam and exhaust ports 15, 16, 17. The auxiliary piston is balanced before its reversal, and is cushioned by fluid entrapped by inside exhaust lap 32 on the valve 2.
