Fluid-actuated gears. - The jarring-cam of a foundry moulding-machine is controlled by a sleeve valve 108, normally held against an adjusting-stud 112 by a spring 124. . Pressure fluid admitted at 115 passes by means of an annular recess in the valve through ports 117, 118, 120 to the cam cylinder, At the top of the upstroke of the ram, a port 19 in it registers with a port 21 in the cylinder 3, and admits pressure above the valve 108, which slides in its casing and over a fixed stud 109, cutting off the supply at 116 and opening the cylinder to exhaust by the ports and passages 120, 119, 129, 131, 132, 123, 122, and 133. On the fall of the cam, pressure is exhausted from above the valve by the ports 21, 20, 22, and the spring returns the valve completing the cycle.
