Fluid-actuated gears; combined fluid-actuated and mechanical gears.-An improvement in the reciprocating-conveyer motor described in Specification 171,297 wherein the piston is driven down bv pressure and returned by the. load, consists in bringing the exhaust port 15 to the side. of the cylinder so that the cushioned fluid therein, on the reversal of the valve 3, imparts a supplementary impulse to the piston. The fluid supply passes through the centre 4 of the valve, and the exhaust through ports 15, 16 controlled by the valve which is reversed on the piston passing one of the ports 6 - - 10 controlled by the spiralported valve 12, the handle 13 of which has a spring locking-pin 21. The main valve is driven up by impact or cushioned fluid.
