Abstract
218,506. Blakeborough, R. A., and Huddleston, R. R. July 28, 1923. Mechanically actuated multiple-way valves; actuating-mechanism. - A double-acting valve for hydraulic machinery comprises two inlet valves 1, 1<a>, Fig. 2, in axial alignment, and two exhaust valves 2, 2<a>, Fig. 3, also in axial alignment mounted respectively in parallel bores in a single casing 5 having a pressure inlet 23 leading to a central chamber 6 between the inlet valves, an exhaust 24 from another central chamber 6a between the outlet valves, and two passages 25<a>, 26<a> adapted for connection to the hydraulic machine and in communication respectively with end cahmbers 25, 26 common to both inlet and outlet valves. The valves are held on their seats by springs 17 and are actuated by central enlargements 13 on axial rods 12, which pass through the valves. Packing 18 is provided on the valves, and the exhaust valves have shoulders 31, the pressure on which helps to keep the valves on their seats. The two actuating rods 12 are worked simultaneously in opposite directions by a. double-armed rocking-lever on shaft 21a, Fig. 4, the ends 21<b>, 21<c> of the lever fitting into notched blocks 20<a>, 20<b> on the actuating rods 12.
