An hydraulic control valve comprises a main piston valve 17 controlling supply, exhaust and motor ports, a valve 29 operated independently of the main valve e.g. at 35 and controlling fluid inlet and/or outlet passages 23, 26 communicating with a chamber 2 at one end of the main valve and a pressure balancing valve 38 controlling inlet and/or outlet passages 23, 41 communicating with chamber 37 at the other end of the main valve and mechanically operated by movement of the main valve e.g. through the vertically and horizontally adjustable crank 43. The end faces 21, 22 of the main valve may be of different areas. Specification 737,678 is referred to.
