Abstract

682,644. Hydraulic machines ; electrically-actuated valves. PARSONS, J. B. Nov. 16, 1950, No. 28065/50. Classes 69 (ii) and 135. A double-acting hydraulic jack is controlled by a valve device having an inlet passage 36, an exhaust passage 28, passages 35, 38 connected to opposite ends of the jack, and valve members 20, 20a under the control of solenoids 12, 13 with spring-loaded armatures 15. When both solenoids are unenergised, as shown, the jack passages are isolated from both the inlet and outlet passages but are interconnected by flutings on the valve members and a passage 37 to permit manual operation of the jack. Energization of one of the solenoids permits inlet pressure to raise the corresponding valve member whereby one end of the jack is pressurized and the other exhausted through the passage 37 and the upper end of the raised valve member.
