Abstract
695,218. Hydraulic machines. ALDOUS & CAMPBELL, Ltd. Oct. 26, 1951 [Dec. 1, 1950], No. 29493/50. Addition to 623,137. Class 69(ii) [Also in Group XXX] A control system according to the parent Specification, comprises a two way hydraulic valve 6 included in the system between the servo-operated main valve C and the working cylinder A and arranged to be operated by the working ram A <SP>1</SP> through tappet and endless rope or equivalent mechanism to prevent abnormal overrun of the working ram. The valve 6 comprises piston valve members 2, 3 slidable with a control rod 1 in a bore formed by two sleeves 4, 5 which form externally two annular spaces 7, 8 communicating through spring loaded inlet and exhaust valves respectively with connected passages 9, 10 and through radial ports 14, 15 in the sleeves 4, 5 controlled by the valve members 2, 3, with the bore between the ports, which is connected to a flanged port 13 connected to the cylinder A, the passage 9 being connected to the valve C. The rod 1 is connected through link 17 and lever 18 to an endless rope 19 connected at 31 to a sliding rod 30 having tappets 28, 29 actuated by an arm 27 on the ram A<SP>1</SP>. In the normal operating range of the ram A<SP>1</SP>, the rod 1 is in central position and the system functions normally. On overrun one or other of the tappets is contacted by the arm 27 which actuates the rope 19 to cause the valve 6 to either block the entrance of pressure liquid or the outflow of liquid, one or other of return weights 24, 25 being at the same time raised from the platform 26.
