Abstract

147,749. Brandl, H. Jan. 10, 1918, [Convention date]. Rotary cylindrical valves. - In steam engines with opposed cylinders arranged around and parallel to the main shaft, and connected to a wobbler or an inclined crank on the shaft, the distribution of steam in the cylinders on one side of the engine is effected by a rotary valve, the steam pressure upon which is balanced by the centrifugal force of a weight arranged on the valve. Steam is supplied to the engine through the passage 16. and passes around an annular chamber 10 and through a passage 17 to the cylinder ports 18. The exhaust passes from ports 18 through a sector-shaped channel and passages 21 to the engine casing. The valve is driven from a counter - balance weight 23 by a key 22 which permits longitudinal freedom.
