Abstract

240,825. Martin, E. H., and Lemasson, R. P. F. Oct. 1, 1924, [Convention date]. Valves, arrangement of.-A rotary sleeve valve 1 for compressors or pumps is arranged to have slight axial movement due to frictional action of the engine &c. piston 21, in order to ensure proper lubrication and fluid-tight working, this axial movement being damped by springs 15, 16. provided at the ends of the valve. The lower end of the valve has tongue-and-groove connection 11, 12 with a hollow worm wheel 7 driven by a worm 8. The valve is packed by means of a broad ring 19 pressed outwards by a spring 20 and by other rings 17, 18 on the cylinder head and the valve respectively. The valve has a port 4 controlling inlet and exhaust ports 5, 6.
