Abstract

Valves, arrangement of.-A rotary valve A for controlling inlet and delivery in reciprocating pumps is fitted with a broad packing-ring M on its outer surface. and bears at its inner surface against a similar ring E<2> in the cylinder head. The ring M is secured so as to rotate with the sleeve, either by pegs or keys or by an enlargement formed on the ring and fitted into a corresponding recess in the sleeve. The ring E is similarly secured to the cylinder head. The ports in the cylinder and cylinder bead are elongated circumferentially to give a maximum opening.
