Valves.-A rotary cylindrical inlet and exhaust valve comprises a hollow shaft 6 arranged transversely on the cylinder heads, having enlarged portions 7 adjacent to each cylinder. Inlet and exhaust ports 8, 9 are formed in these enlarge. ments, the inlet ports leading to the interior of the valve, and the exhaust ports opening transversely into the annular chamber between adjacent parts 7. Each of the parts 7 is fitted with two piston-rings 13, Figs. 8 and 9, and with longitudinal packing-strips 15 pressed outwards by springs 17. The valve casing is connected at each end to the induction pipe, and at two intermediate points a, b to the exhaust.
