Abstract

Valves.-A rotary sleeve valve a, Figs. 1 and 2, for four-stroke engines is formed with a closed head carrying the spark plug m, and an extension formed with cooling-fins p. Three ports l formed in the valve coincide alternately with three exhaust ports o and three inlet ports n spaced around the cylinder walls. Ball bearings are provided at j. Fig. 6 shows a rotary sleeve valve, for a two-stroke engine having cooling-fins l and series of ports along its length co-operating respectively with transfer ports s, exhaust ports r, suction ports q, and transfer ports s<2> in the cylinder.
