Abstract

284,456. Goodrum, C. E. T. Jan. 19, 1927. Cylinders, varying clearance of, and arrangement of igniters and passages in.-A rotary disc valve 6, controlling communication between a cylinder port 5 and inlet and exhaust ports 3, 4 respectively, is balanced by a piston 14 connected by bolts 17 to a thrust collar 18. The sparking- plug may be fitted to the piston 14 at 15, and the compression space may be varied by adjusting the position of the piston 14 by means of the bolts 17. The inlet ports 3 of each pair of valves are arranged close together and connected to a common induction passage 42. The exhaust ports 4 are connected to an exhaust pipe 43.
