Abstract
142,662. Firth, A. L. May 10, 1919. Valves; valve -gear.-Inlet and exhaust ports 7, 7' in the cylinder head are controlled by a pair of disk valves 2, 3 rotating in opposite directions, each valve having a single port 10. The edge of the lower valve and the upper face of the upper valve make gas-tight joints with the valve seating 6. In the arrangement shown, the lower valve rotates at the same speed as the crank-shaft, and the upper valve is driven at half that speed through gearing 22, 24, 23.
