Abstract
244,867. Pattison, W. J., Holyoak, A. J., and Turner, W. L. Oct. 21, 1924. Vacuum tubes. - A getter b such as magnesium is attached to a tungsten or other high-resistance wire a which is connected between two electrodes, such as the grid d and anode c, and is heated by passage of current to flash the getter. The wire is subsequently fused by applying a high potential. The getter may be attached to the wire by spot welding. The wire may be heated for a few minutes to improve the vacuum before the flashing operation takes place.
