Abstract

406,292. Thermionic valves and amplifying circuits. WARREN, S. F., 27, Lowick Road, Harrow, Middlesex, and WOODS, W. L. J., 1, Argyll Street, London. June 18, 1932, No. 17331. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] A circuit for a pentode valve wherein the electrodes of the valve are concentrically located and the grids consist of control, screening and suppressor grids, has the suppressor grid connected to one of the other electrodes by an ohmic or inductive resistance, the potential drop through which, on passage of the working current, constitutes the sole bias between the suppressor grid and that electrode to which it is connected. The resistance may be located within the valve or in the base thereof, and may be variable, for example, by a set-screw adjusted externally of the valve. A condenser may be connected in parallel with the resistance and may be wound spirally around it. Fig. 3 shows the resistance connection 110 to the screening-grid 104, and Fig. 4, the resistance 122 and condenser 122<1> connections to the cathode 123 of an indirectly heated valve.
