Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 39 (i).] A valve has two or more electrodes heated directly or indirectly, and arranged symmetrically or otherwise. The heating of the several electrodes may be unequal. With the application of an alternating potential to the electrodes, a square-topped or peaked wave-form is produced ; the valve may be used for frequency multiplication. The valve shown has two grids G<1>, G<2> and two heated electrodes E<1>, E<2>, connected in circuit so that G<1> is the control electrode when the electrode E<1> is the cathode ; similarly G2 is the control electrode for the electrode E<2> as cathode. The valve may contain mercury. The heating current may be reduced or cut off automatically, the electrodes being heated by the discharge.
