Abstract

352,902. Television. GEFFCKEN, H., 62, Steinstrasse, and RICHTER, H., 3, Wiederitzscherstrasse,. both in Leipsic, Germany. Jan. 7, 1930, No. 645. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Classes 39 (i), 40 (iii), and 40 (v).] A glow discharge lamp for television &c. in which two discharge paths are formed by employing auxiliary electrodes has one path traversed by the controlled discharge while the other path is traversed by an uninfluenced discharge. The electrodes 2, 3, Fig. 1, act as cathode and anode of the controlled discharge and the auxiliary electrode 4 is connected to a source of positive potential through a high resistance 5 so that a weak permanent discharge occurs between electrodes 2, 4. By suitably spacing the electrodes 3, 4, they may be connected to the same battery. The signal currents are fed to the transformer 6, Fig. 1, or may control a valve 7, Fig. 2, in which case the anode 3 is connected to the mid-point of the potentiometer formed by the valve 7 and the resistance 8. The resistance 8 may be omitted (Fig. 3, not shown). The lamp has the main electrodes 2, 3, Fig. 4, in the form of rectangular plates while the U-shaped auxiliary electrode encloses extensions 10 of the electrodes 2, 3. A protective resistance 5 is built into the lamp.
