Abstract

403,813. Discharge apparatus. RADIO RESEARCH LABORATORIES, Inc., 597, Madison Avenue, New York, U.S.A. Jan. 9, 1933, No. 762. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1932. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] Two circuits are coupled by means of a gasfilled discharge tube having a cold cathode and the output of one circuit is applied at one point of the discharge path, the input of the other circuit being taken off at another point which has a negligible electrostatic and electromagnetic coupling with the first point. In one form, Fig. 8, a discharge is maintained between electrodes 13 and 14 in the tube 12. The plate 11 of the first valve 7 of a receiver is connected to a ring-shaped electrode 15 and another ring- shaped electrode 16 is connected to the grid of the next valve 21. In a modification, the connecting tube has two point electrodes 15a, 16a, Fig. 7. It is stated that the selectivity of the arrangement is inversely proportional to the current through the tube 12.
