Abstract

588,317. Valve supply circuits. CHESNEY, E. ST. J. Feb. 8, 1945, No. 3230. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] A current conversion unit for radio is constructed so that it can work from either of two voltages, e.g. 6 or 12 volts, by the plugging in of one or other of two vibrator units. Fig. 2 shows a vibrator unit of the selfrectifying type with a base E having pins connected for a six-volt supply which enter sockets in base B, Fig. 1, which are connected to the D.C. supply, valve filaments C, D and the transformer A. The valve filaments C, D are connected to the supply in parallel by connections between pins i<1>, m<1> and j<1>, k<1> which enter sockets i, m and j, k, while pins b<1>, n<1> enter sockets b, n to connect vibrator contacts to the 6 V tappings of the transformer primary. The vibrator is connected by a lead o<1> to earth clip o. Rectifying contacts are connected to the transformer secondary by connections g, g<1> and h, h<1>, but the base E may be turned through 180 degrees to allow for one or other of the D.C. poles being earthed, when pins g<1>, h<1> enter socketsf, e which are connected to g, h. The twelve-volt vibrator, Fig. 3 (not shown), is similar, but the vibrator contacts are connected to the 12 V tappings through sockets a, d and the filaments are connected in series.
