[Class 39 (i).] Deposits of electron-emitting material formed on the anode or other electrode of a valve during manufacture are removed by setting up a glow or other discharge between the anode &c. and the cathode in a filling of gas such as argon, the anode &c. acting as the cathode of the discharge and the cathode as anode. The cathode may be heated during the discharge.
