Abstract

411,704. Thermionic valves. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. July 24, 1933, No. 20862. Convention date, July 22, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] In a thermionic valve of the kind wherein the control grid G, Fig. 2<a>, is provided with two stiffening portions or "back-bones" B located one on either side of the grid structure, the distance between the cathode K and the electrode next to the control grid and external thereto is less in the plane in which the "backbones" B lie than in the plane at right-angles thereto. In the example the anode A, which is external to the control grid G, is of rectangular cross-section. This arrangement may be modified, as shown in Fig. 2<b>, by providing the anode A with bulges opposite to the "backbones" B. In a further construction a screen grid SG, Fig. 3, is arranged between the control grid G and anode A which is of approximately elliptical cross section, with the minor axis of the ellipse lying in the plane containing the "back-bones" B.
