Abstract

435,561. Valve generating and modulating circuits. RADIOAKT.-GES., D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, Berlin. March 24, 1934, No. 9250. Convention date, March 29, 1933. [Class 40 (v)] A frequency-doubling valve 1 has a fundamental wave from a source 9 applied in pushpull to two input grids 2, 3 of equal control on the electron stream, thus creating a wave of double frequency in the plate circuit, and modulating voltage is applied to an outer or screening grid 4. The input grids 2, 3 are connected to opposite ends of a circuit 8, 10 tuned to the frequency of the source 9 and connected through earth to the cathode at its mid-point. The input grids are biassed by a battery 11 so that only positive impulses affect the plate current. The output circuit 14 is tuned to double the frequency of the source 9 and may be coupled to an amplifier 26. Modulation voltage applied at terminals 17, 18 reaches the screen grid 4 through a choke 19 and condenser 20; and the positive voltage on the grid 4 is maintained by a.tapping on the potentiometer 23. A suppressor grid may be interposed between the grid 4 and anode 5 ; or if the circuit is operated so that the screen voltage never rises above the plate voltage, the suppressor grid may be omitted. The circuit is intended for use with short or ultra-short waves.
