Vacuum tubes.-In the manufacture of discharge devices such as thermionic valves, short metal tubes 1, each provided with a sealing-wire 3 and a leading-in wire 2, are spaced in a jig and are sealed into a foot tube 4 with their open ends projecting therefrom. The leads 6, 7 for the filament and supports 10, 12 for the grid and anode are inserted in the open ends and secured by indenting or spot welding. Additional wires may be sealed into the punch.
