Vacuum tubes.-An anode consists of two or more similar sections 1 each having tubular lugs 2 projecting alternately from opposite sides so that two or more rods 4 can be threaded through the lugs to hold the sections together and support them. The firmness of the joint may be increased by slightly off-setting some of the lugs. When circular in plan, the anode may consist of three sections. Such anodes may be taken to pieces to afford access to other electrodes for repairs. The rods 4 may be inserted in sockets on a support clamped on a reentrant tube, at the end of the envelope opposite to that through which the filament and grid are supported.
